Sunday August 1st started with an 8am 2,000 metre swim across Collingwood Harbour. The two-day Collingwood Triathlon attracts some of Canada’s top athletes.
13th Annual Collingwood Triathlon Weekend
Athletes from across Canada competed in the 13th annual Collingwood Triathlon, Saturday July 31st and Sunday August 1st. Events included the Triathlon 750m Swim, 28km Bike Race and 8km run, a “Kids Of Steel” division for ages 3 to 19, a Duathlon Relay 8k Run, 27 km Bike Race and 4km Run, a Triathlon Relay 750m Swim, 28km Bike Race and 8km Run and the popular Long Course Triathlon. Shortly after 8 on Sunday morning, the Collingwood Long Course Triathlon began with a 2,000 metre swim across Collingwood Harbour. The Long Course Triathlon consists of the 2,000 metre swim followed by a 60 kilometre bike race and concluding with a 15 kilometre run. The bike portion of the triathlon will took racers outside of Collingwood to the Town of The Blue Mountains. The bike route included a 10km climb up the renowned “ ELIMINATOR“ continuing along the top of the Niagara escarpment and followed by a 10km descent into the Blue Mountain Resort. The finish line for the 15K run was in the Village at Blue Mountain. This is the 13th annual Collingwood Triathlon, recognized as one of the premier triathlon races in the Ontario racing season.
