How Much Did It Snow?

Remember, Snow Is A Good Thing In Ski Country!

It may still officially be fall, but make no mistake, winter has arrived with a loud thud along southern Georgian Bay. Collingwood has been battered by fierce winter weather that piled up the snow and created huge drifts thanks the the winds off Nottawasaga Bay.

Strong and cold northwest winds blowing over the relatively warmer waters of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay triggered snow squalls with bursts of heavy snow and local whiteout conditions, beginning on Sunday, December 5th, and continuing into the work-week. Area motorists found themselves battling difficult conditions with zero visibilities in whiteout conditions cause by blowing snow fueled by strong northwesterly winds gusting to 60 km/h.

Collingwood town crews quickly cleared the streets only to have to turn around and repeat the work a short time later because of the heavy snow and gusty winds.

The stormy winter weather is expected to continue until mid-week. The good news is that Blue Mountain is planning to open on Friday to kick off the ski and boarding season.

... too much snow for the ski office? Don't think so!
A window seat INSIDE may be a better choice today
