Town of Collingwood, Ontario, Canada

Waterfront Promenade To Open
July 1st At The Shipyards

Collingwood's Downtown Will Connect To The Waterfront
For The First Time In 100 Years

This year, the July 1st Canada Day weekend will be extra special to Collingwood residents. The Shipyards will open the waterfront promenade on July 1st giving us all complete access to the waterfront from a downtown access point for the first time in over a century.

The Town of Collingwood and The Shipyards have worked together to create the waterfront walkway that sits where massive Great Lakes freighters were once side-launched at the Collingwood Shipyards.

Residents and visitors will be able to have a front row seat to view wildlife in Collingwood's harbour

"The Side Launch will include a nice wide promenade, great seating and fully accessible areas for everyone to be able to walk along the water" Tara Parsons, Director of Sales of The Shipyards said. Construction is underway on the Side Launch 1 building that will sit on land where huge lake freighters were once built and launched in the Collingwood Shipyards. "Launch 1 will have condominium suites, underground parking and elevators. It is a 3 storey, warehouse style building that actually replicates a lot of the structures that were in the shipyard property" Parsons said.

The north end of Hurontario Street will tie in with the promenade along the site where the massive ships were once launced at the Collingwood Shipyards. Benches will allow for relaxation and the enjoyment of access to Collingwood's waterfront at this location for the first time in over a century.
