New Rona Store Opens
-- West End Retail Development Continues --


The ribbon cutting cereomny at the new, 52,000 square foot Collingwood RONA outlet was actually a saw cutting through wood ... most fitting for a store selling building supplies.

The west end retail district of Collingwood continues to grow. The massive new RONA store opened for business on Wednesday, September 26th. The new store is situated on the corner of Sixth Street and High Street, replacing the former Hume Street location.

RONA President and CEO Robert Dutton was in Collingwood to take park in the opening ceremonies, along with a list of guests including M.P.P. Jim Wilson, Collingwood Mayor Chris Carrier and Olympic Kayak Gold and Bronze Medalist Adam van Koeverden. The new Collingwood RONA store employs 55 people and represents an investment by the company of 15 million dollars. RONA has more than 600 stores throughout Canada.

Olympic Kayak Gold and Bronze Medalist Adam van Koeverden was in Collingwood to take part in the opening of the new RONA store. RONA has been named Official Home Improvement Partner for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and a National Partner of the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Teams through to the year 2012.
