New Council Gets Right To Work

Mayor Sandra Cooper says that it is a priviledge to be elected as Collingwood's first female mayor. Cooper said the new council will begin to work immediately. Cooper wants to see a review of the budget, and return the budget process to the office of the Deputy Mayor. Cooper also said she will ask council to revoke the patio bylaw, allowing the restaurant and coffee shop owners to open their patios adjacent to their buildings. She said far too much time was spent on this issue, adding that council needs to listen to the real experts, the restaurant and coffee shop owners, as to where their customers would be most comfortable sitting on a patio in downtown Collingwood.
