Director of Library Services Kerri Robinson Says
The New Library Celebrates The Past, Present and Future

The new Collingwood Public Library takes from the past, celebrates the present and looks to the future. Director of Library Services Kerri Robinson talked about historic furniture saved from the 1963 fire that destroyed the original library, and how the presence of these items helps merge the past and present. The rows of computers, audio-visual equipment and state-of-the-art public meeting room look to the future and contribute to what Mayor Chris Carrier calls "a significant public space." Carrier said the new library is like a "learning park." Carrier said a lot of people talk about the importance of public parks and green space, and he suggests the new library provides the same benefits. "You can come in and enjoy, you can sit and read, take part in conversations and connect with others. This is a real people place for the Town of Collingwood."
