After more than a quarter-century of moving from location to location throughout the community, Monday, Oct. 17th marked the official grand opening of the new 20,000-square-foot permanent Georgian College Collingwood campus at the corner of Poplar Sideroad and Raglan Street in Collingwood's south end.

The new 20,000 square-foot Collingwood Campus is situated on 10 acres of land generously donated by developer John Di Poce. In addition, a $4-million contribution was received from the Community Adjustment Fund of the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

The new Collingwood campus makes it possible for students to receive training in specialized areas including Pre-Health Sciences, Bookkeeping, Personal Support Worker, Level 1 and Level 2 Early Childhood Education Apprenticeship, Office Administration, Gas Technician and the new Business Fundamentals program scheduled to be launched in January 2012. A new e-learning lab at the Collingwood campus enables students to work toward a university degree.

“We are thrilled about the opportunities Georgian’s permanent new campus will offer to the future of the South Georgian Bay region and to our students,” said Brian Tamblyn, President and CEO of Georgian College.
