Collingwood Councilor Dave Labelle wants citizens to better educate themselves regarding the H1N1 Flu Virus. Speaking at Collingwood Council on Monday, September 28th, Labelle encouraged Collingwood residents to visit the General and Marine Hospital web site to learn more about what the virus is, symptoms, how it spreads and how to stay healthy by doing your best to avoid the virus.

"I assure you that the hospital has the situation well in hand locally" Labelle said, adding that the hospital is up to date with not only county guidelines but provincial and national guidelines and developments as well. "Meetings are starting right now, actually. Our police chief and fire chief will be involved in the event that eleven people in the fire hall for example have the flu at the same time. So it's a fairly major issue and it takes a lot of planning" Labelle added.

The hospital also says that we can all help to prevent its spread by covering a cough with a tissue or sleeve and staying at home if we fall ill It is important to know how to take care of yourself or others in the event of illness, and when you should seek medical care.
