"It's a very good story" Collingwood Director of Leisure Services Peter Dunbar told members of council, referring to the financial success of the 2007 Collingwood Elvis Festival. The 2007 festival set a record for ticket sales, selling close to 10,000 tickets for the various arena Vegas-style performances, up 1,000 from the previous year. Collingwood Council will now discuss plans to hold a 2008 festival, following a motion put forth by Councilor Kathy Jeffery to have council give the green light to organizers to start the big job of planning for the proposed July 24th to 27th 2008 event. The 2007 Collingwood Elvis Festival generated $737,500.00 in revenue. The Festival sold more than $100,000.00 in corporate sponsorships and received $108,000.00 in government grant money. At the end of the day, the 2007 Collingwood Elvis Festival turned a net profit of $23,754.00. |
