Docs On Ice
800 Physicians & Medical Students
To Take Part In Charity Hockey Tournament

Goal Is To Raise Money For G&M Hospital Equipment Needs
And To Showcase Region To Physicians Looking To Set Up New Practices

The Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation is hoping to "score" big with an upcoming charity hockey tournament. "Docs On Ice" will feature hockey teams involving approximately 800 physicians and medical students who will take part in the unique charity tournament from April 8th to 10th.

"This is not our 'regular' fundraising event," said Jory Pritchard-Kerr, Executive Director of the G&M Hospital Foundation. "We see Docs On Ice as an amazing physician recruitment opportunity as well!"

The tournament objective is to raise money for equipment needs of the G&M Hospital, and to showcase Collingwood and the southern Georgian Bay region to physicians looking to set up new practices in the G&M area.

Collingwood family physician and tournament organizer Dr. Geoff Moran agrees with Pritchard-Kerr. "We've pulled six municipalities together to host this enormous tournament. This unique partnership will demonstrate the values of collaboration and support that are special to small communities. Medical students and residents will see first hand the exceptional opportunities that are available when practicing in small, rural communities."

Dr. Anne Engell, Chief of Staff at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital says, "If a new doctor comes to practice in any of our surrounding areas, then we all benefit."

Teams will play in the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena in Collingwood and in arenas in Meaford, Thornbury, Stayner, Wasaga Beach and Elmvale throughout the two day tournament.
