The Hon. Diane Ablonczy Learned About Downtown Heritage On Walking Tour Collingwood Mayor Chris Carrier welcomed a special guest to town on Friday, July 31st. The Honourable Diane Ablonczy, MP for Calgary-Nose Hill and Federal Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism) was treated to a downtown walking tour by Mayor Carrier and other town officials. Carrier was joined by Simcoe-Grey MP Helena Guergis, Collus Executive Director Ed Houghton, Downtown BIA General Manager Sue Nicholson, Economic Development Officer Catherine Durrant and downtown businessman Ed Christie. Christie's invitation was extended with respect to his long-time commitment to heritage, and his contribution to Collingwood's downtown heritage district. |

Before entering into public life, Ms. Ablonczy obtained teaching and law degrees from the University of Calgary. She taught elementary grades and, later, junior high school English. As a businesswoman, Ms. Ablonczy managed a grain farm operation along with building a successful law practice. |
