The Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts presents The 2010 Murray Jacob Clerkson Award. The award has been created by bequest to thte Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts by the late Mr. Clerkson and is intended to celebrate the accomplishment of an outstanding, local, emerging visual artist who demonstrates potential for significant contribution to the arts. Tanya Mazza, Coordinator, Arts and Culture, for the Town of Collingwood, is thrilled about the new award. "I know the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts" will appreciate the assistance of everyone to help spread the word about this wonderful tribute to the late Mr. Clerkson." Murray's wish is that the award would recognize an evolving or emerging artist, not yet professionally established, but who has reached the stage where he/she now possesses a body of work that indicates strength, purpose and commitment. The award is open to artists working in any visual arts media or discipline, not aided by a computer. The application deadline is March 24, 2010 at 5pm. Applications need to be received at the Arts Centre by the deadline to be considered. The award of $1000.00 plus interest earned in one year will be given at the time of the award announcement. Eligibility: Any individual residing in the Georgian Triangle Area (Collingwood, Creemore, Meaford, Thornbury, Stayner, The Town of the Blue Mountains, Wasaga Beach and the Townships of Clearview, Osprey, Sunnidale, St. Vincent and Euprasia).
