| League Decision Catches Team By Surprise "I definately got hit in the head, it's not hard to see that." -Chris Campoli |
| Montreal Canadiens defenseman Chris Campoli was the centre of attention after practice in the Collingwood Eddie Bush Arena on Monday, October 3rd, after it was announced that Ryan Malone of the Tampa Bay Lightning would not be suspended for his hit on Campoli in an exhibition game between the Canadiens and Lightning played in Quebec City two nights earlier. Malone was handed a game misconduct for the hit. Campoli told reporters that he didn't agree with the opinion of the league in not handing out a suspension. "I definately got hit in the head, it's not hard to see that. It's unfortunate. It could have been a lot worse." The Canadiens are in Collingwood for team building exercises prior to the opening of the NHL season, however the team building really began immediately after the hit to Campoli in Quebec City as Campoli's defense partner Josh Georges jumped in to fight Malone immediately after the hit. Campoli appreciated what Georges did. "As a partner, you want to know the guys have your back. Especially being new to the team it's a good feeling to know that." |
