The Collingwood Festival for Canada is a three day celebration throughout the downtown streets. The party began at 12 noon on Friday July 1st in front of the downtown Federal Building with the opening ceremony and Citizen Reaffirmation, followed by the cutting of a giant Canada Day birthday cake. Live music followed at three downtown locations, and at the Shipyard amphitheatre. Fireworks lit up the night sky along the downtown waterfront on July 1st.

Events continued on Saturday morning with the pancake breakfast at the downtown Farmers' Market, live entertainment, and an outside artshow at the Tremont beside the library. The downtown merchants sidewalk sale will continue throughout the holiday weekend.
