Celebrating The Nation's Birthday
In Collingwood's Revitalized Downtown District

Thursday July 1st was a day to celebrate Canada's birthday and to enjoy time in the revitalized heritage downtown district. The streets were open again, the sidewalks welcomed pedestrian traffic and the air was filled with the sounds of music and people enjoying the beautiful weather that arrived just in time for Canada Day 2010.

For the first time in over 100 years, visitors to downtown Collingwood could walk to the waterfront at the foot of Hurontario Street.

All celebrations were held throughout the downtown district including entertainment at the new waterfront amphitheatre in the Shipyards. People enjoyed "live" entertainment on the streets and took part in the Citizen Reaffirmation Ceremony followed by the cutting of a huge Canada Day birthday cake. There were activities for the children, sidewalk sales, an outdoor fashion show and fireworks at the waterfront.
