Fundraiser To Battle Diabetes

Local artists have joined in to help raise money to continue research to find a cure for Diabetes. Art is displayed in store windows including Noel Martin's "Wall Flower" (pictured above).

Collingwood's Downtown Is A
"Walking Art Gallery"

Collingwood's Downtown has been turned into a "Walking Art Gallery" thanks to the efforts of a BIA business owner. Cottage Country Crafts owner, Marilyn Lawrence, is "on the run again" for Diabetes and has organized a local "Art Walk" throught Collingwood's Downtown. Marilyn has been running marathons and raising funds for the Canadian Diabetes Association for the past three years. This year, she is heading to Dublin with a goal of raising $10,000.

To help raise these funds, Marilyn has organized "Art Walk" featuring local art displayed and for sale in downtown windows. More than 40 business windows are featuring original art from a variety of talented artists. The art will be offered for sale and all proceeds will go towards Team Diabetes.

Marilyn isn't a professional athlete, but she understands and accepts the discipline, time and commitment needed to be successful. She has seen the devastating effects of the disease first hand. Marilyn Lawrence runs for all diabetics so that collectively, ways can be found to prevent type 2 diabetes, and a cure can be found for type 1 and particularly juvenile onset diabetes.

Take a stroll through the streets of downtown Collingwood to view the art and make a purchase. You'll be helping to support the fight to battle Diabetes.

Local artists have donated work to help raise funds for Diabetes Research. Sports Unlimited in Downtown Collingwood featured this work by artist Etty Goldfarb entitled "Ice Angels."
