The Town of Collingwood has entered into a partnership with a private company to move forward with a plan to construct much needed affordable housing. The Town is partnering with Mitren Collingwood Limited to construct 18 affordable housing units on vacant land at 145 High Street.

The announcement to construct a townhouse/walk-up apartment complex in Collingwood's west end ends disucssions to create affordable housing in the former Tremont Hotel, situated in the Downtown Historic District at the corner of Simcoe and St. Paul Streets.

Recently, the Town of Collingwood received 1.26 million dollars to put towards affordable housing from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. It is hoped construction of the new affordable housing units will begin in the Spring.
