Sports Hall of Fame 2018

The Directors of the Collingwood Sports Hall of Fame are pleased to announce the bi-annual COLLINGWOOD SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONIES will take place on Saturday, October 27, 2018.

Following the call for nominations, the Hall of Fame Selection Committee & the Board of Directors is pleased to announce three new members and one team will be celebrated during its traditional Fall ceremony.

Harold Horner Builder – Hockey & Baseball
 Coached 9 provincial & international championship teams during 20+ year coaching career
 OHA Referee & Slo-Pitch Umpire
 Volunteer executive member of Collingwood Clipper Swim Club
 Top line hockey and baseball player on local teams

Michel Le Goaix Builder – Cycling
 In 1981, created the Collingwood Cycling Club staying active through early 2000’s
 Organized 1st Collingwood cycling race in 1982 & worked to create interclub races
 Introduced & coached 2x Canadian Olympian Sue Palmer-Komar to sport
 Volunteer at Duntroon Highlands Cross Country Ski Club & Special Olympics
 Participated in the 1985 World Masters Games hosted in Toronto finishing 6th out of 67 riders

Don Pollard Builder – Hockey & Baseball
 Level 3 CMHA Coaching certification, a year-round coach in the 1960’s & 70’s
 Collingwood Minor Hockey Referee
 Proud sponsor of Collingwood CHMA & OBA teams
 Member of Oshawa Generals, Collingwood Greenshirts & Shipbuilders
1973-74 Collingwood Juvenile Lions Hockey Team
 Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) Juvenile “A” Champions

This event marks the 44th year since the Hall’s inception when its founder Scotty Carmichael introduced the inaugural members that have grown to number 158 sporting personalities and 39 teams. Tickets for this evening will be available for sale in September. Ticket sales revenue supports the continued operations of the Hall of Fame Room & website.

Further details regarding the location and date will be released in the coming weeks. Tickets are $40 for dinner, featured guest speaker and Induction presentations.
