Volunteers Make A Difference
In The Community
National Volunteer Week was April 19th to 25th, 2009. Throughout Canada, communities took the time to salute individuals who have taken the time to help make their village, town or city a better place to live, work and play.
Volunteers are involved in just about every aspect of society including health, education, social services, sports, recreation and culture. Downtown Collingwood has honoured Frank Cruickshanks. Frank has been a familiar face associated with all BIA activities for more than four years now. You'll see him early in the morning, during the day and on weekends as he takes on various projects to help make our downtown a better place to visit.
"We're honouring Frank in recognition of the countless hours of volunteer work that he performs for Downtown Collingwood" said Downtown BIA General Manager Sue Nicholson. "Frank helps us out in so many ways including setting up and tearing down for special events, delivering notices and posters to BIA members, helping out at our popular farmers' market, volunteering his time during the Elvis Festival and so much more" Nicholson added.
Volunteers are people of all ages that come from all walks of life. They share a desire to make a difference in the communities they serve. For more information on National Volunteer Week, visit their web site at www.nvw-sab.ca.
