20th Annual Tour Promotes Local Artists

Blue Mountain Foundation For The Arts
- 30 Years Promoting The Arts -

For more than 30 years the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts non-profit arts organization has been promoting the arts in the Georgian Triangle. The member supported organization now also owns and operates The Arts Centre, a beautifully restored century building and retail art gallery situated at 163 Hurontario Street next door to the Gayety Theatre in Downtown Collingwood. The Arts Centre features professional-calibre artwork, offers art classes and hosts many cultural events.

The popular "Town and Country" Studio Tour was held June 6th, 7th and 8th throughout Collingwood and surrounding area. 2008 marked the 20th anniversary of the Studio Tour, showcasing the talents of local artists in studios located in Nottawa, Duntroon, Glen Huron, the Beaver Valley and here in Collingwood. Admission was free and visitors took advantage of this unique opportunity to spend time talking directly to the artist in their own working environment.

Downtown Collingwood's Fishbowl Artist Studio featured the work of six artists in one location. Visitors met with artists (pictured below)
Keli-Ann Pye-Beshara, Bonnie Dorgelo, Sue Miller, Andrew Peycha, Jim Stacey and guest artist Bryan Wall.

The artists of the Fishbowl Artist Studio were on hand to display their work (above) while Terese Connolly (pictured below) worked in her stained glass shop and studio "Suite Fixings" at 71 Third Street. Her work has been described as "an eclectic approach to functional, decorative, whimsical stained glass art."

Artist Jackie Sture (pictured below) from Penetanguishene's "Nettleton Lake Studio" was in Collingwood for the weekend and displayed her artwork and met with visitors to the 20th annual Town and Country Studio Tour.

Artist Jackie Sture works with oil and wotercolours of landscapes and florals. Jackie was a guest artist at this year's BMFA Studio Tour. For more information about the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts, visit their web site at www.bmfa.on.ca.
