SPARC Entrepreneur Challenge
Announces Winners on
Friday, March 4th

SPARC Entrepreneur Challenge

Winners have been announced SPARC Entrepreneur Challenge.

Top prize was awarded to Collingwood's Technicraft Product Designs (pictured above) on Raglan Street for the creation of a product called "Shutgun" that shuts off active fire sprinkler heads to minimize damage.

Second prize was awarded to Old School Brewery (pictured above), a company that brews organic beer at a nearby Blue Mountains historic schoolhouse. The Old School Brewery second place winners had a great time and posted comments on their web site following the event. "Last night was a blast. The Sparc Entrepreneur challenge was good times from start to finish and the Old School Brewery ended up taking second place and the people’s choice award. What does that equal? About $11,122! Hell. Yes. As promised the free beer was flowing late into the night at the school house. We’re getting fermenters! Thanks to all that came out and all that voted in our favour, and thanks to the Small Enterprise Business Centre for hosting a great night."

Third prize was awarded to a company called Dock On A Rock recognizing its entry of a system of environmentally friendly, adjustable brackets, designed to mount a dock or deck structure to any solid sloping rock surface. Designed to sit above the waters' edge, these brackets allow you to simply use standard deck building methods and materials to give you access to and from an unusable shoreline.

The awards ceremony was held at the Georgian Manor Resort in Collingwood on Friday, March 4th. More than $50,000.00 in prize money was up for grabs in the competition, including a $40,000.00 first prize.
