West End Growth Causes Overcrowding
At Mountain View School
Collingwood's west end continues to grow causing overcrowding at Mountain View School. The school was built in the 1960's to replace the former King George School, and now can't handle the rapid growth of the western portion of Collingwood. The new Admiral Collingwood School is operating at below capacity and will accept students from west end Collingwood beginning in September 2010.

Balancing Supply and Demand
The Town of Collingwood is growing in the west faster than the east, and this is causing the Simcoe County District School Board to re-think school boundaries. Mountain View School in what was the western portion of Collingwood in the 1960's was built to replace the former King George School. Fast forward to 2010, and the school simply can't handle the increased demand for enrolment. Meanwhile, the new Admiral Collingwood School was built in Collingwood's south end to replace the downtown school. While new home construction is underway near the new school, development simply hasn't matched the explosion of new homes in the west end. As a result, the new school isn't operating at capacity.
To correct the inbalance, beginning in September, students living in west end developments including Cranberry and Mair Mills wil be bused to Admiral Collingwood School in south-east Collingwood. Students in the west end Georgian Meadows subdivision will continue to attend Mountain View School.
