Collingwood Run Could Hit One Million Dollar Mark in Money Raised

Collingwood Run for the Cure Coordinator Jen Nichol hopes 2011 will be the year the Collingwood event hits the one million dollar mark in funds raised locally for cancer research, Last year, close to 800 people took part in the Collingwood portion of the nation-wide event.
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure is Canada's largest, single day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, and education and awareness programs. Every October, thousands of Canadians participate in the run. Their reasons for taking part may vary, but everyone has the same goal in mind; to create a future without breast cancer.
In 2010, support continued to grow, with record-breaking dollars raised and unwavering corporate and volunteer support. In 60 communities, more than 170,000 supporters united as runners, walkers, donors, volunteers and partners, to raise $33 million in support of our vision of creating a future without breast cancer..

In Collingwood, a large crowd gathered at Harbourview Park on a chilly Sunday morning (yes, those were snow flurries in the air!) to take part in the town's 7th anniversary Run for the Cure event.
