Jazz at the Station
a popular summer event

Jazz at the Station has become one of Collingwood's most popular summertime events..

Great Music In A Park Setting
Jazz at the Station Growing In Popularity

What do Collingwood residents do after two nights of cheering for Drew Wright on Canadian Idol? A growing number are gathering on the lawn at The Station to enjoy "Jazz at the Station" every Wednesday night. Presented by Downtown Collingwood, the Wednesday night concert series continues to grow in popularity. Frank McNulty of JBG Promotions books the talent and organizes the event. McNulty says the groups that you'll see every Wednesday night are true professionals and offer many different types of music for you to enjoy throughout the summer season.

Johannes Linstead
One Of The Top Latin and Nouveau Flamenco Guitarist In The World

The Johannes Linstead Group performed on Wednesday July 16th. Johannes Linstead has been regarded as one of the top Latin and Nouveau Flamenco guitarists in the world. In concerts as in his recordings, Johannes Linstead immediately create a festive mood that will have listeners dancing in the aisles, or in this case, on the grass at The Station. Johannes is a recipient of the 2007 Guitarist of the Year at the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards, he was also nominated for a Juno award in 2007. "We're going to try a song that we haven't played with our new percussion player yet ... is that ok with you? You won't throw tomatoes at us if we make a mistake?" Johannes joked with the crowd at the station. The group then went on to nail the song to the delight of everyone.

The Station offers a casual, comfortable outdoor setting to enjoy live jazz. People arrive on foot, on bikes, on roller blades and most take a lawn chair.

Visit Downtown Collingwood's web site for a complete listing of jazz concerts to be held at The Station this summer. "We're hoping to continue to grow the jazz series here in Collingwood" said McNulty, who would like to see the return of The Collingwood Jazz Festival. "We'll continue to have discussions with Town officials as we move forward" said McNulty. The series will conclude on August 27th with The Regal Jazz Band. The best part of all ... there is no charge for Jazz at The Station.

What better way to spend a warm summer night than by relaxing on the lawn at The Station listening to world class Jazz? The crowds continue to grow in the second season of Jazz at The Station.
