Entertainment, Children's Activities and Local Fresh Produce
The popular Collingwood Downtown Farmers’ Market is entering into its 8th season. The market will each Saturday morning in the heart of Collingwood’s historic downtown until Thanksgiving Weekend in the municipal parking lot at the corner of Second and Pine Streets from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
For years the farmers' market has been offering a place to purchase quality produce, food and crafts. In addition, the idea of the 100 mile market (the market containing only produce from 100 miles around the market location) has been implemented to promote buying local and eating healthy. The Collingwood market features produce vendors, local baked goods, crafts and artwork. There will be many new faces, in addition to the tried and true vendors that have been coming since the market began seven years ago in 2004. Some of the new vendors this summer will include: High on Health (hemp products), Remedy of Nature (handcrafted natural, organic hand-pressed soap), Village Earth Organic Coffee (coffee and coffee beans) and a myriad of different new produce vendors.
"The Farmers' Market serves not only as a social catalyst, but also promotes the concept of buying from area farmers and supporting the local economy" says Rachel Thomas, Farmers' Market Coordinator. "The market is an integral part of the downtown Collingwood experience."
In addition to more than 30 vendor stalls, special events will be held at the market including childrens activities, musicians and demonstrations. The market promises to be larger than ever this year.
There are still vendor opportunities available for the Farmers’ Market. For a complete information package, please contact the Collingwood Downtown office at 705-445-5595.
