Ministry of the Environment
Issues Ethanol Plant
With Deadline For Action

May 6, 2009 Deadline

The Ministry of the Environment has given Collingwood Ethanol a firm deadline to correct emission and noise issues. An order by the Ministry, issued in January, has been amended to give Collingwood Ethanol a May 6th deadline to present a work plan to end ongoing noise and emission issues that have been the focus of complaints by east end residents and business owners since the plant opened two years ago.

The Ministry of the Environment order has told Collingwood Ethanol that it must have noise-reduction equipment in place by May 7, 2009. The plant has already promised to have this equipment installed. The next deadline for the plant will then be June 30th, when the Ministry wants a progress report on the noise-reduction equipment's performance.
