Downtown Collingwood Continues To Grow
Putting Pressure On Need To
Create More Parking
The parking debate is on again in Downtown Collingwood. The Town is seeking public input to assist in the preparation of a long term strategy for parking in the Town of Collingwood.
The BA Consulting Group has been retained by the Town of Collingwood to develop the long term strategy. A part of the research will deal with the cash-in-lieu of parking requirement for all business and development in the Town of Collingwood.
Questions to be examined throughout the study process include who should pay for parking, should there be an increase in parking lots and if so, where should the parking lots be located. Developer parking costs will be examined in the study along with whether or not special attention should be paid to encourage active transportation. Parking rates will be examined including looking at whether different parking lots should offer different parking rates. Also, the ongoing issue of staff parking in the downtown core will be examined.
A meeting to gather public input has been scheduled for 7:30pm on Wednesday February 27th in the Banquet Room of the Temple Building at 126 Hurontario Street. You can also email your comments to salmas@collingwood.ca or fax your comments to 705-445-2448.
