Collingwood’s Mountain View School is preparing to expand
On October 28, 2016, the Government of Ontario announced funding for a major addition to Mountain View Elementary School in Collingwood.
At its March 19th meeting, the Town of Collingwood Development and Operations Services Standing Committee will consider an application by the Simcoe County District School Board for a Site Plan Control Agreement for expansion of Mountain View Elementary School.
Staff Report P2018-04 recommends that Council enacts and passes an Authorization By-law to execute a Site Plan Control Agreement for an expansion to Mountain View Elementary School (300 Spruce Street).
The proposed expansion would see the construction of four additional classrooms onto the west side of the existing school building. As a part of the expansion, the school’s parking lot would be re-configured to add 44 additional parking spaces to the front and south of the building.
Mountainview Public School currently accommodates close to 400 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.
This staff report was forwarded to Town of Collingwood Department Heads on March 13th , 2018 for review and it was recommended to proceed to Council for consideration.
