Hospital and Communities Continue To Work Together

Hospital and Town on the same page and moving forward with hospital redevelopment conversations
Norah Holder, CEO of the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital and Fareed Amin, CAO of the Town of Collingwood are a part of a regional group of elected and Hospital officials participating in group meetings to positively impact health and wellness throughout Southern Georgian Bay.


The lines of communication are wide open between the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital and the municipalities it serves.

Collingwood Mayor Brian Saunderson told Collingwood Council on Monday January 28th that the initial meeting of all stake holders has taken place. He said the mandate is to provide a forum for the Hospital and the municipalities to work collaboratively to identify and address community health and wellness opportunities and address issues to achieve improved health and wellness throughout Southern Georgian Bay.

Saunderson said the group plans to meet a minimum of twice per year however he feels there is a good possibility of meeting quarterly.

“The group is looking to improve two-way information exchanges to discuss and provide advice pertaining to the health and wellness of the Southern Georgian Bay region to understand the roles of municipalities and of the hospital to work collaboratively and jointly to positively impact health and wellness throughout Southern Georgian Bay.”

Saunderson said the membership will consist of the CAO’s and Mayors of the member municipalities of Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Clearview, The Blue Mountains and Grey Highlands. It also includes the Vice-Chair of the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Board, Lesley Paul, who will chair the committee, Kevin Campbell, the Chair of the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Board along with the President and CEO of the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital, Norah Holder.
