Full Speed Ahead at The Shipyards

Collingwood is still a hot real estate market.

The town is booming.

New home construction is underway throughout the community including the launching of a new waterfront collection at The Shipyards.

The new waterfront homes facing the former Shipyard launch basin will be steps from downtown Collingwood. Work is now underway to prepare the site for construction.

Early in 2018, approval was given for an amendment to the Town of Collingwood Official Plan to re-designate a portion of the Shipyards “Condominium E” lands from Live/Work Residential to Medium Density Residential and to re-designate a portion of the Shipyards “Side Launch 2” lands from Commercial to Medium Density Residential.

Shipyard officials said the result of the amendment better reflects the needs and wants of today’s new home buyers and cleared the way for construction of additional town homes.

At that time, Tara Parsons, Sales Representative with RE/MAX Four Seasons Realty Limited, Brokerage and Director of Sales for The New Shipyards, said demand for new homes was high.

“Response and sales to the limited release of bungalow loft town homes at the Shipyards has been brisk. They have been very popular with 2 beds, 2 baths on the main floor & 4 car parking.”

Parsons said fifty-six town homes were released for purchase at that time. Work now has focused on construction of new waterfront townhomes along the former Shipyard’s launch basin.

The Shipyards has yet to announce plans to develop the property between the former launch basin and dry dock. It is expected to include a retail component with residential units.
