The Town of Collingwood is expanding video coverage of municipal meetings.
As of Monday, April 9, Standing Committee meetings will be held in the Town of Collingwood Council Chambers in Town Hall. This change in location will allow for the meetings to be broadcast on Rogers TV and live streamed to Rogerstv.com.
Upon the conclusion of Standing Committee meetings, videos will be posted to Rogerstv.com for viewing.
Regular Council Meetings will continue to be held in the Council Chambers and will continue to be broadcast and live streamed on Rogers TV.
“For those members of the public who are not able to attend our meetings in person, this will allow them to stay informed on municipal events,” said Collingwood Mayor Sandra Cooper. “We are looking forward to providing this extra level of accessibility to our residents.”
“I’m excited to see this enhancement to the Town’s commitment to openness and transparency,” said Deputy Mayor Brian Saunderson. “Making Standing Committee meetings available for everyone to watch on TV or online, helps to improve our public accountability, and increase engagement in municipal government.”
At the February 26 Council meeting, a resolution was passed directing staff to take all necessary steps to film, broadcast and live stream all Council meetings and Standing Committee meetings to increase public access to such meetings and enhance accountable local government.
Council and Standing Committee meeting schedules, agendas and minutes are available at Collingwood.ca.
