Looking back to April, 2004
Work is underway on the final phase of the Black Ash Creek Flood Control Project in Collingwood’s west end. The completion of the project from the waterfront to Mountain Road has allowed for the Blue Mountain Mall expansion project to proceed. The next phase is now underway at a cost of close to 6 million dollars. This phase will result in the widening of the waterway south of Mountain road, past Sixth Street and continuing to the southern town limits. A new bridge will be constructed as a part of the final phase of the development. New residential development is planned for the area adjacent to the final phase of the flood control project.
Director of Collingwood Public Utilities Ed Houghton is pleased with how the completed portion of the project has easily handled the Spring runoff.
This work was critical to open up the west end retail development that has now been constructed.
