What better way to get some exercise, fresh air, and to explore the trails of Collingwood than on a bicycle!
Two Wheels are Better Than Four on your Daily Commute
The Town of Collingwood kicked off Bike Month bright and early on Monday May 28th. This week is also Bike to School and Work week, so there are multiple reasons to swap the car for a bike for your daily commute.
On Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in front of Town Hall, people were invited to arrive downtown with their bicycles to be treated to a free hot coffee courtesy of Ashanti Coffee and a free bike light to increase their visibility while biking.
Collingwood Bike Month encourages everyone to bike to work, to school or to their daily activities. Cycling is great for our health, our productivity and the environment.
Collingwood is a community dedicated to cycling. Our world class trail system has hosted many special celebrations of cycling over the years.
Bike month takes place across the province, celebrating recreational cycling at all levels with an emphasis on cycle safety.
Throughout Collingwood Bike Month, bike safety events will be taking place at local elementary schools. These bike safety events will be hosted by the Collingwood/Blue Mountains OPP, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and Healthy Kids Community Challenge. For more information contact your local elementary school.
On Saturday, June 2nd, Bike to Move Collingwood Day will be held at Central Park from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. We’ll all have an opportunity to learn new skills from a Cyclocross national champion and a mountain bike national champion. There will be cycle ramps to try out and obstacles to conquer and participants in the safety skill station will receive a cycle safety certificate. Bikers will also love the amazing Flatland BMX performances.
