With the arrival of April, many people are turning their thoughts to golfing, biking, hiking and yard work. However, for many, the arrival of April this year has brought with it an extension to what has been one of the best ski and boarding seasons on record. Environment Canada has confirmed that March was one of the coolest in recent memory, and that cool weather has allowed Collingwood area ski resorts and clubs to keep snow on the hills well past the March Break.
Blue Mountain will keep some hills open while the snow lasts, with a hope to still be open when Easter arrives, weather permitting.
The extended ski season is good for Collingwood business owners. While the weekend crowds aren't as big as they would be in mid-season, the arrival of skiers and boarders in April is a bonus on what is traditionally a slower time following the March Break.
