South Georgian Bay has a new radio station.
97.7 THE MAX is on the air throughout South Georgian Bay
97.7 MAX FM hits the airwaves November 1st, broadcasting to the region from the studios of the former 97.7 The Beach.
97.7 MAX FM is a Bayshore Broadcasting owned and operated radio station. Company officials say the format switch will better meet the needs of local listeners, providing music they can identify with while continuing to hear news, weather, sports and special feature programming that was a key part of the daily programming lineup on The Beach.
In other words, the station has had a re-boot.
The station, CHGB-FM, was licensed by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission in 2006 and hit the air on May 18th, 2007.
In a prepared release, the company says the station will continue to provide familiar spoken word programming to go along with the revised music format.
“From our studios located midway between Collingwood and Wasaga Beach, 97.7 Max FM broadcasts across the region with the very best in classic hits and award-winning local news coverage to the South Georgian Bay area.”
The format change has followed a couple of key management changes at Bayshore Broadcasting.
This spring, long-time Bayshore Broadcasting General Manager Ross Kentner left the company, as did original 97.7 employee and News Director, now Collingwood Councillor, Mariane McLeod.
So it’s out with the new and in with the old … classic hits are on the air and in your hair!
