The Theme of the 2018 Collingwood Downtown Santa Claus Parade has been chosen from 25 entries submitted to the Collingwood Downtown BIA.
The winning theme is ‘What Christmas Means to Me’, submitted by Miranda Mueller who has won a Gift Basket valued at more than $250. The BIA thanks all the Downtown Collingwood businesses that helped fill the basket – Ed Christie’s, Haven, Bent Taco, Cabin Bistro, Homme Femme, U Pick Parties, 1858 Caesar Bar, Tesoro Mercato, Creemore Coffee Studio and Collingwood Olive Oil.
This year Collingwood’s Annual Santa Claus Parade will be held in the early evening to capture all the magic of the downtown holiday lights on Saturday, November 17, beginning at 5 p.m. The parade will mark the official launch of the holiday season that will feature merchant Open Houses , visits with Santa’s Reindeer in Training, carolers on the street, the HOHOHoliday Run and many other activities including the traditional “lighting” of the town Christmas Tree, followed by the annual Christmas fireworks display.
Collingwood Downtown General Manager Sue Nicholson says even though it may seem early, now is the time to register your float with the committee. There is no entry fee for community groups and non-profit organizations. The commercial entry fee is just $50.00.
“Another great way to get involved in the parade is through your financial support. We want to make this year’s edition of the Santa Claus Parade bigger and better than ever. We encourage every business to consider becoming involved… it’s a great way to promote your business as you assist in staging this important community tradition.”
